"The James Library" 8.5x11 watercolor on cold press paper

I hope you all had a great holiday and happy New Year.
It was great for me to have my girls home, however brief.
I did this painting over the course of the week, at my kitchen counter- like I used to do when they were little girls, still home. I miss those days sometimes. I didn't realize it so much then- such is life and motherhood.
This is my piece for this month's girls just wanna paint challenge- the theme is "local landmarks" and although the James was already a theme for October I felt like painting it. My mom was a librarian there for many years and I took the girls for piano lessons every Thursday. It was a special time.
I had fun painting this!

Lovely and illustrative... but who is the dog? Dog must have a reference!!! Is this your dog when you were a child?

I love the richness in this... so hard to get in a watercolor, but you excel at it... Perfecto!
