"Poppies-after Georgia O'Keefe"oil 8" x 8" oil on panel

Veterans Day- a day of remembrance. I gave a vet a little pocket change in front of the market the other day and he gave me a little red poppy.
I was going to paint that one, but while in my studio I came across Georgia O'Keefe's beautiful poppy -so I copied it. I went with my husband and brother  to the graveyard where my stepdads stone is, and where we buried his ashes. He served in the Army.We put a small flag there.
I thank him, my Dad in Hawaii, a Marine, and my grandfather, who was in the Navy,
and all the other vets who served and are serving our country.
Veteran's Day is about everybody who wore or continues to wear the uniform. It is a very select group of American citizens that have had the opportunity to do that.
I am glad we celebrated this day on the actual day, November 11.

My Grampy (Mama's Daddy) and my own father (I was an Army brat from birth to 5 years old) and my baby brother, Tommy, who served in Desert Storm, all went to War. We are still free because they had the courage to go. God bless them all.
Nice post.
