camp and mosaic -DONE

Emotions run high at the end of camp- 5 weeks FLY!
There are so many moments that make the experience special- mostly seeing the kids doing what they love to do- art!
Here is the mosaic on the mesh- all pieces are glued down.

Here we are lifting the whole piece....

and here is the flip side.
Next it is cut into pieces for the installation...
here's where it is going...(Judy is going to help me install it!)
 Sticking it down with mastic..
 wiping off the excess...
 lots of wiping!

there is its! With counselors Peter and my daughter Markie ..

and Mary Bess and JUDAY!!!!

I am exhausted... but happy. To see some of the campers performances click here.

stolen moment

Last evening I took my bike down Macombers ridge in Marshfield-out to Trouants island- it is a beautiful marsh estuary and my friend Patty lives right on it in the sweetest little house..
She wasn't home so I helped myself to a bit of heaven on her patio and painted this little postcard sized watercolor.
Theres a big hill to get myself home, but it is worth it.
This summer I have no trips planned, and I'm very happy about it.
My bike can take me places to paint that the car cannot and I love my little adventures. I hope to paint a lot more postcards this summer.

quick daisy 4"x4" acrylic

I don't love the chain link fence around the pool area in my back yard, but I like the pattern it makes behind my shasta daisy! I did this this morning after seeing Page Railsbacks quickie zinnia ( thanks Page for the inspiration!)
Yesterday I was treated to a visit to Halfway pond in Plymouth. My charming hostess Diana and I  dined and kayaked . I felt like I was in girl scouts again. It was so soothing ! We saw two bald eagles and a few turtles sunning.
I love the smell of pine needles in the sun.
ahhh, life!
Here is a photo Diana took- not the turtle we saw yesterday, but a resident of the pond...

fireflies at night 9"x12"

this one was done with acrylic from memory- the words are macaroni letters I dyed for the campers.
I am proud that I used NO GLITTER to portray the idea of fireflies!

camp mosaic

this one is going to wrap the column near the theater entrance- hence the theatre theme!
Its supposed to be red velvet draped fabric  and tassles which is a little bit of a challenge...

summertime fun

Summer camp!
Each summer in Hingham MA I teach painting and mosaics-
and lots of other fun things I come up with for the kids to do.
I love these kids!
Here is my landscape painting class in the field- there is a lovely view of Long Cove that we have been painting.
I taught the kids how to prime the canvases first with a tone, in this case pink.
Their results are stunning and they are so happy!

this sweet shy polite guy is from Thailand
My beautiful niece ( my counselor in training)
Yesterday we saw my nephew ( running to second base in the background) play baseball.
Doesn't get more American than this.
Happy Fourth Everyone!
