Cohasset Harbor 11"x14" acrylic

Monday morning I had the pleasure of painting plain air with friends on Cohasset Harbor. What struck me was how this piece of sand looks so much like a clamshell!

Kaimana- for my Dad in Hawaii

Kaimana is the Hawaiian word for the sparking diamonds in the water. This painting was done last Saturday evening sitting on the banks of the north River . I'm thinking a lot of my dad now- he is in Hawaii and I miss him. He grew up on the North River- that water is a real connection I feel I have with my dear Dad. I also grew up with a good friend who's house was on the river. We spent many a day on it. I  love it- the beautiful ever changing tidal water .Luckily I  can still walk down to it from where I live now.

Nancy's house

I have the good fortune to have friends who live in beautiful places. Being in these spaces and painting out of the studio is refreshing and invigorating. This is Humarock beach, Scituate, and her cozy chair.

Plein air

I have been plein air  painting at friends houses in Duxbury this week. Acrylics are a challenge because they dry so fast but acrylics are great because they dry so fast! I attended a lecture in Rockland Maine with Connie Hayes- she really inspired me with this quote "I paint to see if I can live in that moment longer ".
I plan to paint a lot this summer and my summer will be long!
