Catching up!

Hi! It's not quite fall, summer is hanging on. This year I am experiencing a feeling of melancholy as I let go of summer. I loved the heat, (we put a pool in the back yard several years ago, and our house has NO air conditioning , and I LOVE the feeling of relief when I get in my pool). We had lots of hot days and I made a big pile of plein air paintings, most of which need a few tweaks to be complete. I love to paint, and be outside, so plein air is my go to in the warmer weather. As it gets colder I look forward to the process of working out of my imagination. There is a direct relationship to the paint and canvas, it's truly like running away while in the cozy world of my studio.
Here are a few of the pieces I created over the summer.

A glimpse of what I have in the studio to finish...

Here's one of Scituate, looking up from the pier towards Jericho Road.
One of Maine, Gotts Island, a lovely tiny island off the coast of Mt Desert island.
I started this one in the late afternoon on Humarock Beach. (Still tweaking)
A monotype- I'd like to do more of these!
This is why I avoid Cape Cod in the Summer...

I participated in a painting contest at the Marshfield Fair- ate a hot dog-and won the blue ribbon!
I made this giant puppet, named Alphonso, as part of the celebration for 30 years of Summer Arts at Derby Academy! here is Thalia- the amazing and wonderful director, with Al.
This was a fantastic summer at Derby Summer Arts!
Made this flying monkey for the camps production of The Wizard of Oz...

This is the prototype panel for the Art Complex Museums' herring run mosaic wall, (23' total)  working on it now- to be completed in 2020!
I won first place in oil and acrylic at the Pembroke Arts festival this summer!
Not gonna lie, it's cool to win stuff now and then...
( also, I'm not actually going blonde- I'm letting my white hair shine!- an interesting color experience)
A mixed media painting of a fierce lion, painted as a gift to a warrior friend who is fighting cancer.

two smalls from a friends lake house in Maine
And here is what I just started today- one of three 30"x40" canvases to be part of a show next month.
It's partly from a watercolor I did France in 2015, and partly from another sketch, some made up and some pinterest inspired. Can't wait to get back to it!
Thanks so much for looking!
I'll be back- show news coming soon!
