Hot Seat 6"x6" oil on panel

This is my entry for the Girls Just Wanna Paint challenge- this month's topic is "HEAT"
I'm staying with extended family in a cottage in Onset, MA. It's very cool- I imagine it's what the cape used to be like. This is the stove.I'm planning on painting a lot this week.
Quiet. Funky. Great pizza at Mark Anthony's!

the farmhouse 6"x6" oil

this place is just amazing...just put a few tweaks on it.
The challenge was to get this big old place with all the details on such a teeny panel....

apparently I need to start buying room on google to post images.

A technological pause is in order for me, not such a bad thing sometimes.

plein air on Riverside 9"x12" oil

I set up this morning in my Friend Ellen Callahans driveway- she is sort of the mayor of Riverside circle in Marshfield- walks all many of the neighborhood dogs-and  she invited me to paint her back yard and while I was there the lawn people came- and the garbage men- she gave us all cold water. it was simply nice.Still need to tweak this one...
I have been slacking on the drawing challenge- but I do draw in my sketchbook a lot so I figure I can post these ones from the Maine farmhouse.
Chair and freakishly large oil lantern( it was in the foreground)

Joreen and her wine....reading her new Frank Benson book she got at the Farnswoth Museum. She looks like she's about 8 here...(underage drinking!)

Drawing Challenge Day #3

Winnie was a little jealous that I drew another dog yesterday- she thinks SHE is the cutest.
These are from when I was cooking last night- and the little bird was spotted outside the window.
Here's Winnie at bedtime in her new bed.

Drawing Challenge Day #2

This model was great- didn't cost much, very cooperative and oh so adorable.
Nancy Colellas dog Cello! The one random guy on the beach was someone I could see from Nancy's beach house deck. Nancy's beach figures are great- she has an endless supply of them off the back of her house.

Drawing Challenge

Liz Wilten's blog post inspired me to join her drawing challenge. Her post here was inspirational. I love to draw for no other purpose than the process. It truly is meditative- this morning I sat by my little water garden and sketched. Its only a 15 minute a day challenge-but  I spent an hour.

Dream Studio- 5"x5" oil on panel

The little building on the rocks is an artist studio.
COME ON! I would not know what to paint- except the water.
I love the little distant islands of tress- reminds me of tall ships. We did see a few on their way to Portland way off in the distance- the golden light on their sails was majestic.

Rocky Coast, 11"x14" watercolor

There was a short path from the farmhouse through the trees and down a gravel road to the beautiful coast. I sat there to paint this, and later in the week found my way to the point to watch the sunrise. This place has found a permanent spot in my soul.

rainy morning

On this morning in Maine I awoke early to sound of rain. Downstairs the coffee was made, classical music was softly playing on the back porch where Joreen was quietly painting. I was so inspired buy the old farmhouse and its beautiful country furnishings. I loved the rainy day- it allowed me to settle down and paint the interiors. This chair reminds me of my grandparents old house in Norwell.

Oilhouse at Pemaquid- 6"x6" oil

A brilliantly blue sea and sky  perfectly complimented the little red oil house.

lobstah? 5"x5" oil on panel

This was one of my first attempts last week to capture the cove and its boats. Boats are tough!
