Columbine 8" x 8" oil on panel

Last evening I attended "Rachels Challenge"at Marshfield High School.
Rachel Scott was the first person killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Her acts of kindness and compassion coupled with the contents of her six diaries have become the foundation for one of the most life-changing school programs in America.

Powerful video/audio footage of Rachel's life and the Columbine tragedy holds students
spell-bound during a one hour school presentation that motivates them to positive change in the way they treat others.

I left in tears as did many others and immediately had to call my daughter who is away in college. I wanted to call everyone else in my family too!
It was a hopeful message and Craig, her brother, was an inspiring speaker.
My daughter had seen the presentation that same day and sent me, as did many other students, a text that simply said she loved me.
She told me that this has made an impact on her in a way nothing ever has before.
She found an image of the columbine flower ( since mine are long past) and suggested I paint it for my daily painting. So I did!

Very moving, Sally. And a lovely painting, too. I enjoyed the calligraphy on the background.
