Thanksgiving Cactus 8" x 8" oil on panel

I thought this was a Christmas cactus so I got all festive in my studio
this morning and listened to James Taylor's Christmas CD
 and whipped this off
( I had very little time - this study took me about 30 minutes).
I've done a little research and the
web tells my that the Christmas cactus has rounded leaves and the
Thanksgiving one has more jagged edges-
so thats why its blooming now!

This small neglected dusty
little scrap of a plant rewarded
me with  a few poofy blossoms this week.
I really should be nicer to it!

I have one too! The only living plant that has come with me through... EIGHT moves! And I let it almost die about 3x a year - and never knew why it blooms so early (blooming now)! Thanks for this, and for the information. I like it that you do plants, too, babe!

What's that funny smell?
